Re: Closing down... opening up

As far as I am aware the Simon Dunn company (may have been a franchise) went bust quite a while ago - some of the operators of the stores took on the leases to carry on trading. As part of that deal they may have had to keep the name for a certain amount of time. Therefore providing it is the same o...

Re: Closing down... opening up

I've not had the pork belly but people I have been with have had the lamb on two separate occasions and never said it was bad so as you say may have just been a bad day.

The Cellar Key which opened a week or so before Christmas where Azad Manzils used to be is very nice. Decent food, relaxed atmosphere and a good wine list. Also do Estrella on tap but only do real ale out of bottles. Been in a few times and it has always had a nice vibe to it.

Re: Closing down... opening up

Development Securities were the owners that GMPVF purchased it off. Citybranch sold to DevSec in 2011. Pretty sure there is no pre-let agreement to Booths. Certainly hasn't been anything that we have seen from my work involvement in it anyway. And if there was it would have affected the advice we ha...

Re: Closing down... opening up
Looks like nothing is happening with the precinct until at least 2018 when the lease for Graeme House expires. Will likely continue as a grimey dingy throughfare for some more years then.
I have said this for a few years now and it is definitely still the case ...

Re: Barakah Foods, Whalley Range...

Yes they run it out of their spam - sorry I think - but it is registered with the Council and has all the hygiene tests etc as a normal commercial spam - sorry would. As such it is delivery only. Excellent quality of food and service - particularly for the price. I like the way you can order at 5pm ...

Re: Moving advice needed...

When we moved recently we looked at moving out of Chorlton. Mainly to the Disley, Marple area. Problems for us were that the prices were the same - if not more expensive for the same house, the drive in to Manchester is a pain in the arse, the train is expensive and still 40 mins or so I think and w...

Re: Anyone good with land values in Chorlton?

Land value completely depends on what could be put on it. For 1 bungalow on there it is probably worth about £70,000 if you put 10 apartments on it will be worth substantially more. If it is sold subject to planning for 1 bungalow I would insist that a claw back provision is put into the sale docume...

Re: A Coffee chain opening in Chorlton

There were rumours of a large scale redevelopment of the precinct but with the economic downturn this has been binned. Now they will be keeping the 1960's office building, quality save and maybe boots but knocking down the rest of the precinct and building modern units. The main proposal will be the...

Re: A Coffee chain opening in Chorlton

I doubt Costa will go in the precinct as it is meant to be being knocked down at some point in the near future. They are only offering short term leases with no security of tenure, therefore I don't think they could justify the cost of the refurb to bring a precinct unit up to Costa's standard inter...

Re: Adams chippy review

I went in on Friday night had fish, chips and mushy peas. Here is how I would rate it. Fish - 6/10 - freshly fried to order, not great batter but certainly not bad. Chips - 5/10 - Passable but portion size was fairly small Mushy Peas - 0/10 seriously inedible - not dry like the above persons post, j...

Re: Anyone go to the recent Manchester International Festiva

It was somewhere in the Chethams School of Music. It basically looked like a big lift shaft but must be normally used for storage/deliveries or something I would guess.

It was a little awkward at first but I soon just forgot about it and enjoyed the experience.

Re: Anyone go to the recent Manchester International Festiva

Went to see the XX with an audience of just 60 people. Worth every penny of the ticket money. One of the best gigs I have ever been to/will ever go to.
