Re: Closing down... opening up

What''s the story with Beech Road''s Moose becoming Elk ??

Their WiFi password is "RIPMoose" lol !!

Moose (based in Hale) did a good refit of Beggars Bush - I guess the financial model didn't work. Very surprising for the location, perhaps they just spent tooinch? ?

Re: Has anyone been to HOME?

Yes - it''s a nice place to be with several things to do. The gallery had a very interesting (no-charge) exhibition based on the Internet & digital, including social impact. Visually impressI've, I struggle to do it justice in words ! We didn't see a film - wasn't our reason to visit and I think...

Tiled floor repair - specialist required

We have a small problem with our floor which would require an experienced tiler to fix. Th floor is not perfectly level so judgement will be needed how to prepare it and support replacement tiles (which I have). Hopefully 1/2 days work, worst case a full day. Any recommendations of local tradefolk w...

Re: Closing down... opening up

Reeves -- you are right: but isn't there a (part) solution to this, namely shops opening later -- for example 11-7 instead of 9-5 ?? I'd use the butchers and fish mongers more if I could. But I don't always want 'sociable' shopping which is time consuming at the weekends as we sometimes have things ...

Oswald Road school extension

Crikey I'm glad we don't go to school there --- the builders haven't finished so school start had to be delayed by a week. It looks like the same problem hit Springfield School in Sale. Oswald Road apparently informed parents during the holiday. I don't know whether there was advance notice of the p...

Re: Cash-free Day on Beech Road, 21st June

Well the H&J got some publicity and then completely failed: 1 to sell "crisps for 50p" which was a joke throw away line at the end of the Guardian article 2 to do anything different, ie still had £10 minimum for card purchases, which was stated (or I inferred) would be dropped !! So no...

Re: Crime!

Crime can vary hugely in the space of 1/10th of a mile, ie just 2-3 roads. Crime statistics are published by the police on-line now -- see http://www.police.uk before you decide to move anywhere because I think many places in Manchester can vary by a surprising degree. I empathise with your view of ...

Went last night. Gorgeous food - the tastiest tapas ! Meats, fish & veg selections. Can choose to order as tapas or starter and main portions. From 7.30-8pm it filled up nicely. Inside is pretty much as Metzaluna left it but painted brighter. Here's a tip and somewhat a secret. Until 7pm the Tap...

At the Mersey (... idle chat)

Man city council are making propers access - both steps and a ramp for the disabled and cyclists - to the footbridge at Jackson's Boat. Good idea. Doesn't seem as if Trafford are reciprocating, though it is a little easier on that side. Also saw a 2-man (I suppose I should say person) cart testing t...

If you see a black Hydra Shogun men's mountain bike ...

You can probably guess - stolen from my shed. Had a red child seat when taken but easily removed. So just in case .... If anyone sees this, probably with mudguards, black mountain bike - Shogun Hydra or Hydra Shogun - then it may help to track down and find the evil perpetrator .... Love & hugs M
