Re: Working from home

I too work from home - have done for years. But the truth is it's not for everyone. Certain people - such as the somewhat embittered earlier poster - are just not cut out for it. They prefer the routine of the shared workplace : the constant rounds of making tea for half the office, the five minute ...

Re: Thug in Dulcimers last night

Definitely agree that Dulcimer is a great place to drink. The staff are on the whole genuinely pleasant individuals - particularly Paul the manager - and they do put up with an awful lot of drunkenness with commendable good grace. Does seem that incidents of thugs kicking off in there are becoming m...

Re: Thug in Dulcimers last night

Have you seen him around before? In Dulcimer before? Hate the fact that this place is a magnet for idiots whenever there are no bouncers on. Thursdays have been getting particularly bad - as they are open late I reckon they should bring in the bouncers a night early. So many scrotes seem to wander i...

Re: The Nook & Cranny

The Nook could produce the best pizzas in Manchester but they'll never take off in any big way whilst the place relies on a clique of regulars to pay the bills. Just about the most unwelcoming bar in Chorlton in my opinion - not necessarily down to the staff (although there are some issues there), b...

Re: The Wedding Present

Went to the 25th anniversary of George Best tour - having been there the first time around had high hopes (and felt very old). But it was pretty disappointing to be honest. They raced through it without much sense of enjoying the whole affair. Gedge always did have a curmudgeonly streak though - I r...

Re: cheapest/most expensive pint in Chorlton?

If we're talking quality lagers though... Krombacher - £3.50 in the Bar, £3.55 in the Marble, and for some reason £3.60 in the Nook. As far as I know that makes the Nook the most expensive bar for lager in Chorlton. And it's something of a sh!tehole so can only assume the regulars are somewhat more ...

Re: Closing down... opening up

If I walked into a restaurant and told the waiter to get lost as I'd be dealing with the spam - sorry directly myself in order to save a bit of money, people would think me both rude and slightly mad That did make me chortle. Definitely going to give it a go. "Out of my way, I speak to the che...

Pete - everything you say is totally normal. And it might be a cliche, but time heals. Things just do get better.

You should definitely move out of the flat though - is houseshare not an option? Doesn't have to be studenty - and surely a good way to meet new people

Re: Any recommendations for conveyancing solicitors?

Pilgrim, the fact remains that you have have implied I'm a liar, I have asked you to retract you erroneous post, been civil to you and yet you refuse to do do. Perhaps you can give me your name if you refuse to retract and we can let the SRA sort this out. Can I join in? You sir (Russ) are a liar! ...

Re: Chorlton pubs help needed...

what about the wee place next to Coriander - opposite Southern Cemetery. It's called Twiggys or something similar I think. Wouldn't like to vouch for the clientelle, but the management seem friendly enough Could that be this place - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-for-sale/property-3...
