I stayed in and got fish and chips from Atlantic. Sublime. Seems that sometimes having no friends isn't such a bad thing.

Re: Unions

government debt is around 70% GDP - high, but not unprecedented. From 1920 to 1960 it was never below 100% of GDP. The idea that government debt should be around 40% has only really emerged in the last decade or so. He's not wrong you know, though the peaks seem to coincide with the two world wars ...

Re: Licensed Private Members Club

There aren't any 2am licences in the vicinity. The latest licence in the vicinity is midnight. Also, the crux of our objection is the precedent that would be set, and so by arguing that it should be allowed because other establishments already have a licence you have proved this mentality exists. B...

I'd be interested to know what you mean by this. If I spend more than I earn then I have a budget deficit and it is a significant problem.

Re: Licensed Private Members Club

Don't several of the bars in Chorlton now have licenses to 2am? A 4am club doesn't seem that much later. I don't have much experience in these matters (or any at all come to think of it) but I would have thought there would be fewer people rolling out drunk at closing time making a nuisance of thems...

Re: Half decent garage

I think this was mentioned on another thread, but another vote for stearing well clear of Kwik Fit. My friend went there and was quoted £800 for a new exhaust ("need a complete new system"). He went down the road to an independent for an alternative quote... £80.

Fan of K-Style here. The ambience is wonderful, the cuts fine, and the prices a bargain.

I noticed that too about 3-4 weeks ago. It's a bit odd.

Re: Psychopath Cat Woman

Did you know that there are 30 odd Chilean miners stuck 700m down a mineshaft and the message they've been given is "we should be able to get you out by Xmas. Hold tight lads..." Also, there are seven million people still cut off from mainland Pakistan by flood waters. The area is swarmin...

Re: Licensed Private Members Club

Or maybe he means the one called 'Vanessa's Fitness Studio opposite the Halifax (upstairs of course, I think its an estate agent at ground level). Only just noticed this at the weekend when something possessed me to look up Nope, Vanessa's is a well known honest-to-goodness knocking shop. Been ther...

I think it's this one, just to the left of MacD's. Nice big windows.

Colour photos, hmmm....

That would be good. There must be some around from say the 70's? How about the 60's? There's a challenge Pete (and everyone else) - find the oldest colour photo of Chorlton!

Re: Then and Now...

Awesome stuff Pete, keep it coming. How about turning this into a game - post the "then" photo then we try and guess where it is before you post the "now"?

Looks like you're enjoying your 12-8 anyway!

What a nice looking road, I didn't realise there was anywhere in Stretford like that. Do you have a separate parking area?

Re: Postal Oddity

It would be nice if they could open in the evening as well. Surely it costs as much to employ someone 7am-12 as 2pm-7?
