Re: Should Chorlton High School become an Academy

Academies suck. Altrincham Grammar and William Hulme are Acadamies ! Your point being? And yours re. sucking and the "pretentious" name change ? There was always a Chorlton High School prior to it being Oakwood though the site now used was originally Wilbraham High. Also If multi cultural...

Re: Hough End

Went a few times in the early 80's when it was a club and then again last year to a party in the upstairs room. Outrageous bar pricing, something like £4 a pint for run of the mill lagers and very average food. It's surroundings were never going to help it, how they got planning for the two office b...

Re: The Royal Oak

Not been in the Royal Oak for years. It used to be very busy back in the '80's when I went in often and it had a lot of Irish customers back then. It was also always very "lively" back then when City/United played each other

Re: the Parlour

Ate and drank there with the kids last night 5.30ish. Ok service, think most staff were just starting , nice steaks but not up to The Bar's food , will give it a go again when it's settled down. One thing , I never asked (my fault) but assumed we would of been given kids menu if it existed. Kids ate...

Re: More pub robberies...

Before moving to Whalley Range 8 years ago I lived in the Green for many, many years and back then burgalry was rife. Every house on the terrace I lived on was done, some more than once. At the time the Police put it down to one or two individuals living in the area. I was of the opinion it had impro...

Re: The Feathers New Tesco Metro

In an ideal world someone local would of taken this property and run their own business from there . The fact is that if anyone had wanted to they could of done so , the property has been up for sale and/or the lease available for six years that I know of. In this time a couple of people have taken ...

Re: Action Plan for Chorlton released

What a load of bollox. Chorlton's needs are simple, and most of the "targets" are market-driven and not subject to the whims of local bigwigs. If they really want to help, they could make the car park free again, thus freeing up the surrounding roads of the congestion. Oh and dump the &qu...

Re: The Feathers New Tesco Metro

Demonstration, about what ? There are kids living in extreme poverty and fear in this city, have a walk through the back streets of Longsight, Miles Platting, Beswick, Harpurhey etc. and look at yourselves having a demo on a Friday afternoon (followed by a latte no doubt) against a shop opening in a...
