Re: Adams chippy review

I had one and it smelled disgusting and looked disgusting. I ate it nonetheless and then about two hours later I was sick everywhere, and then I shat my pants.* I wouldn't recommend them. Still, it tasted marginally less disgusting than it had smelled and looked, so that was nice. * The last bit may...

Re: Adams chippy review

Always hated Atlantic Chippy. Massive, tasteless fish, and big, rock hard, under-cooked white chips. Every time I've been (three times). So far I've really liked the Royal Cod. Chips are spot on and the fish actually tastes of something. Also like the Beech Road chippy but, though the owner seems a ...

RIP Harry Goodwin

I love Chorlton, I love music, I love The Beatles, Syd Barrett, Hendrix and many others who all knew Harry Goodwin, so it figures that I have been touched by the life (and death) of Harry Goodwin who passed away yesterday.

RIP Harry.

Re: The Laundrette.....

Hmmm. We went on Monday (Aug Bank Holiday). We arrived at 4:20pm and were told we couldn't eat outside after 4pm due to the lack of a licence. I'd been expecting to be told we couldn't drink outside after 5pm, not that we couldn't eat outside post 4pm. Weird. The food was pretty good. I'd been retic...

Re: Closing down... opening up

I know it's not exactly new but I went to the new Coriander for the first time on Saturday night and it was absolutely superb. Highly recommended.

Re: Thug in Dulcimers last night

Don't recognise the description but me and a mate were intimidated by a gang of absolute scumbags in there recently. I've lived in Chorlton for 12 years and frequented Dulcimer since it opened, and I've never been intimidated like that. Not once. My mate and I had come back from Trent Bridge, Nottin...

Re: Drinking in the sunshine in Chorlton

That landlord in The Beech isn't the friendliest of chaps, I must say. I'm there quite often and I'm not sure he's ever said hello, but - dubious, never-ending refurb aside (and I like 'distressed'!) - he's done a great job on the whole. At one point recently they had four or five beers on all of wh...

Re: Drinking in the sunshine in Chorlton

The Beech has really blossomed over the last couple of years or so - the fella who runs it now, Chris I think his name is, has really turned it around. Great beers, which are very well kept, excellent, friendly staff, and the Hungry Gecko addition was very astute. Delicious food. The atmosphere in t...

Re: Caffeine and Co opening in Longford Park

They don't seem remotely prepared for being busy. We found the staff very personable, very accommodating...but just.....to call them out of their depth would be harsh, but they were in a massive flap despite their best intentions. My kid's not a baby any more but I did notice a lot of people requiri...

Re: The Laundrette.....

Owned by the same bloke who owns Chorlton Brasserie I think - they made such a killing there they've opened another place. The outdoor seating area looks really nice - the menu, not so much. Still, looking forward to giving it a try.

BBC News at Etchells on Beech Road

Popped to Etchells at 9.30 this morning to find a BBC reporter and cameraman there, interviewing people about the NOTW scandal. Depressingly most people in the shop were there to buy it. I only went for a Danish Pastry. I walked in, BBC man Ed Thomas is standing next to a huge pile of NOTWs and he s...

Martin Gritton, professional footballer and Soccer AM favourite, lives in Chorlton.

That lass from Corrie is always out running round St Clements. Saw her yesterday in Belgian Belly or whatever it's called these days. Coffee & Chocolate? #shitname

Re: Dulcimer is re-opening

Janda is a bit of an egotistical tit who thinks he's some kind of celebrity ffs, but Dulcimer is great and I'm delighted it's reopening. Just hope they continue with the Thwaites Wainwright ale.
