Re: Beech road Bistro

No need to copy and paste if you use a proper browser like Chrome. Select the text, right click and choose "Search Google for <whatever you've selected>". Almost as easy as a real link, although admittedly Google is there as the middleman.

Re: The Urban Gardener - Damian Steadman - opinion please?

If you're planning to take munchkin's advice and get a few other quotes, I can recommend Karen O'Keeffe who designed our back garden last year (and will be coming back to redesign the front this year). She can be reached on 07949 368308, or at ker275@bulldoghome.com. We found her prices very reasona...

Both quite inimical to paintwork, over time, and the former to mirrors and aerials too. Hand jobs are much to be preferred.

Re: royal cod

The £90k figure came from a number of sources on the net, available to all and sundry. And yet strangely incapable of being included in your response. (unlike Mr Squirrel, who backs up his arguments with links to his sources) Not that I'm bothered one way or the other. Who would be when there's chi...

Re: Happy New Year

Aye, Happy New Year all. I know 2012 wasn't good for many people, but it marked two major milestones for me (which could also be spelled millstones - as in got rid of, from around my neck), so on the grand scale the year was continually on the up, especially compared with 2011. Got great hopes for 2...

Re: Texaco garage -closed?

Peter, the guy who ran the garage in that block, went out of business 3-4 years ago. Great guy, great service (in both senses) sadly missed. I believe the premises were briefly taken over by the owners of the garage on the other side of bmr, but even they didn't keep it going for long. As for the pe...

Re: Merry Christmas, folks...

We started on the Quality Street early this year and now it looks like I'll have to pop out tomorrow for another couple of tins. Well, I say tins, but I notice they're actually plastic tubs now. Guess that might be more Chorlton than it appears at first glance, if it's recycled and recyclable plasti...

Re: Traffic in Chorlton

As if by magic http://www.gmraps.org/ Well well. Yes, it certainly looks like a good start, although it doesn't go as far as I'd suggested. For instance, while it will no doubt co-ordinate all the works for which permit applications have been made at the same time , there's no element of long term ...

Re: Traffic in Chorlton

Well done Michael for getting on the case in the first place, and to John Leech for taking it seriously. My inner cynic suspects that he'll be even keener to keep the locals happy between now and 2015. With a sub-2,000 majority and an overwhelming collapse of popular support for Lib Dems he's not li...

Re: Driving in the rain (A rant)

While I understand your frustration, it is not a driver's responsibility to check behind before braking. The law is very clear on this, and common sense should be too. Turning? Yes. Changing lanes? Yes. Braking... no. It is your responsibility as the driver behind to ensure you have left enough spac...

How does this crafty badger keep cracking the security? What security? You apply for a username with a valid email and reply to the validation check. Since valid emails are available anywhere, for free, in unlimited quantities, this hardly qualifies as "security" and that assumes the syst...
