Re: Chorlton Open Gardens

Saw lots of cacti at Kingshill Road too. The owner even took the time to give us a few facts about each one.

Sadly no Pimms tho.

Chorlton Open Gardens

Anyone else go to Chorlton Open Gardens last week?

I managed to get round eight of the gardens and took a photo in each:

Claude Road was my favourite.

You wait ages for a wine bar then 2 come along at once.

Although this one has novelty wine glass racks:

The new bar from The Parlour team is...a bit strange

Anyone tried Palate on Wilbraham Road yet?

They've gone nuts on the decor side of things. Refurbished wooden pallet chairs, recycled cardboard light fittings and these very odd wine glass holders:

Re: Chorlton's high street gets stranger by the day

I'm not saying Chorlton going upmarket is a bad thing, but you'd be hard-pushed to say it hasn't gone more upmarket over the last few decades. For starters, just look at the house prices in M21 relative to the rest of the North West. Can't imagine dog-grooming salons would have lasted long in the 70...

Re: Chorlton's high street gets stranger by the day

Did it really happen so quickly? I thought it was more of a gradual progression over the last 15 years or so. Starting with the bar places like the Bar and Bluenotes. I'm not really a great shopper... which/where are the boutique shops? 15 years is still pretty quick in planning terms. Chorlton use...

Haha, I guess all them media types have to accept a share of the blame.

In my defence, I don't work at MediaCityUK. Yet.

Chorlton's high street gets stranger by the day

Genuine question here, how did Chorlton get so bohemian & middle class so quickly? Never quite been able to understand how we went from an area full of pound stores and charity shops to an area synonymous with fine dining and boutique shopping over the course of a few short years. Speaking of wh...

Re: Anyone else tried Chorlton's new wine bar yet?

Yeah, the food's definitely worth trying. Some of the dishes at launch are better than others (the sharing platters in particular are good value for money) but at least there's lots of variety, which bodes well for the future I always think.

Re: Made-to-measure/bespoke suits - any ideas?

I think it's called James Personal Tailor & Son. For anyone who's interested, I've looked online & it seems they do the suits for all the footballers (Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo, Cantona, Summerbee, Best). And randoms like Lionel Richie! I'll give them a try at the weekend. Thanks for the sugge...

Made-to-measure/bespoke suits - any ideas?

Hi guys, has anyone on here ever bought either a made-to-measure suit or a bespoke suit in Manchester?

I've never had one before so haven't got a clue which tailor's best.

All suggestions gratefully received!

Re: Which Chorlton spot held the 1st live gig by the Bee Gee

Hi Pearl, thanks for your feedback and glad you found the blog interesting! I've updated the post by referring to the artistic, musical and community activity that you mentioned. You're right about the recording studios - I read there was a nightclub in there too! Didn't know about the Homes for Cha...
