Re: Closing down... opening up

Shops. And herein lies the problem. People say they want shops, but if you open one you soon discover the grim truth that there is no demand. Totally agree. Everybody wants nice shops to mooch around on Saturday and Sunday when the weather is good, show off how well they are doing to their parents ...

There is a sign of Crema (oppiste leisure centre on corner of Kensington Rd/Manchester Rd) suggesting it is turning into a pizza place.

It is now but wasn't available when I put the comment on. It's great news and I totally agree with your comments. I hadn't thought about the alarm function, will try it tomorrow.

Re: Wi-fi speakers/music systems? Sonos?

Don't know if this helps but... I've installed Sonos around the house, great sound but (and for me this is a big but) as it works via its own Bridge connection over your wi-fi it is slightly restricted in what you can play. Sonos only allows you to play via certain outlets ie Spotify, Google music, ...

Re: St Clement's Church - where exactly is this church?

I think Chorlton Methodist Church is the one that's on what you might call the "other" Manchester Road. Not sure if you know that there are two of those in Chorlton? I believe, historically Manchester Road was one long road through Chorlton. But they split it when they built the precinct ...

Re: "Chorlton has the highest burglary rate in the country"

Actually that is incorrect. When I claimed for my stolen bike I didn't provide a crime number. good luck with getting your claim paid out. moneysupermarket (who came up with the report) are pretty clear on the matter. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/home-insurance/making-a-claim/ Claimed and receiv...

unfortunately for your theory, having a police crime number is essential to making an insurance claim, so that kind of clears that one up.

TNT's service is slower than Royal Mail, but they are significantly cheaper, that's why they have a successful business, with plenty of customers. When people see a deal, they vote with their feet. Even the unwashed left, (constantly spoiling for a fight, they lost years ago), should be able to see...

Re: Post

TNT have won the rights to deliver right up to the door in several UK cities including Manchester, rather than just to the nearest Royal Mail delivery office. The downside of this is, currently they only deliver door to door twice a week and so some post can be delayed ie they only have TNT postmen ...

Re: Horse & Jockey Fireworks

I think most of Beech Road did pretty well out of it, and hopefully all those who made loads of money from last night will have chipped in for the clear-up. I dread to think what the Green looked like this morning. I drove past this morning on the way to work (7.30) and it was fine albeit a little ...

I've used Mike Duffin a couple of times for guttering and general roofing work. He is genuine, decent priced but very busy so you do have to chase him if you don't hear back from him - 07944 729608
