Re: Closure of Chorlton Web Discussion Forums

Wasting money

I suppose everyone's seen the hundreds of 20 Mph signs (and poles) popping up all over Chorlton and Whalley Range since Interfering Victor got on his high horse about road safety, with the other paranoids, and pushed through a blanket speed limit for residential roads, in addition to the more sensib...

Re: Homeless Chorlton

Chuggers piss me off. Not just the annoyance of them, but the very concept... Some really don't give a shit about the charity they collect for - they're doing a job. They get paid to bug you on the street, and are employed by an agency, who also get paid and give a small proportion to the chuggers. ...

Homeless Chorlton

Been seeing a larger amount of homeless begging in Chorlton centre. Very depressing.

Welcome to the 21st century.

Re: Closing down... opening up

Bloody Facebook group. Where you all have to have a 'real name' (except for Mike Lever's mates who have pseudonyms)... where Mike Lever controls who can and can't be a member... where no-one fvcking swears, and where Chorltonian hipster banter seems to be the rule of the day (along with being the lo...

Re: The election

It seems none are hipsters, though. This is surely a grave error when it comes to 'local representation'.

Re: Closing down... opening up

That unit next to takeaway Buffalo on Wilbraham Road has opened up at last... to make a MEGABUFFALO!

Not literally, you understand... just a double-sized restaurant... Bit intimidating really.

Re: Selling a house with a tenant question

I guess it's a shame the tenant doesn't want to buy the house, or maybe they haven't been asked? Buy-to-let has worked out badly for many and this has increased incidents of landlords treating their tenants shodilly. The tenant is approximately 3 months late with the rent he owes and is very unlike...

Re: New leisure centre at Hough End: More consultation

So... Withington baths, which is HALF a mile from the new centre is allowed to stay open, and the one TWO MILES away has to close.

Figures.

Re: Anyone else tried Chorlton's new wine bar yet?

But bear in mind that life expectancy is far lower for working class people than for middle class people and that they are more likely to spend the last decades of their lives living with chronic health conditions that mean they are unable to fully enjoy retirement. That's because they smoke more, ...

Re: Selling a house with a tenant question

Why would the rent rise 'almost certainly''?? If the property is sold to a landlord he/she may very well be more than happy to keep a tenant on paying the same rent. Annie has no information to support otherwise. Seems to have happened to a few people that I know in this situation. Go figure. Sorry...

Re: Anyone else tried Chorlton's new wine bar yet?

It's one of Chorlton less appealing characteristics... food snobbery. The notion that if you eat a certain kind of food from a certain kind of venue, that it somehow makes you a lesser person, or even a "lowest common denominator'. It's a form of dehumanisation, and, quite frankly, is utterly r...

I'd rather have ANYTHING Weatherspoons are serving than ANYTHING from McDonalds.

Their "microwaved" steaks are particularly nice.
