Re: Closure of Chorlton Web Discussion Forums

Yes, thanks for all the work you have put in. It used to be both entertaining and informative - a great way to spend the odd spare 10 minutes! I'll miss it.

Re: Best for Beds?

Someone once told me you have to be careful with Ikea beds as the sizes are non-standard so you have to stick with their mattesses. That used to be true but their new ranges are in standard UK sizes. I would ask in the store to make sure you get a UK size - the person I spoke to in Ashton Ikea was ...

The old chinese takeaway on Beech Road has reopened as a cards & gift shop... very similar to Hurricane right next door.

Re: The gentrification of Beech Road

The Launderette in particular seems to attract "Cheshire" people - it sometimes looks & sounds like it's in Wilmslow or Alderley Edge.

Re: Trams into the city centre

St Peter's Square station is currently closed while they build a new bigger station. That's due to open next summer. The Market Street stop is within sight of Piccadilly gardens - 1 minute walk. If you've just missed a direct Bury tram, it is worth getting the next tram to Cornbrook. There are very ...

Re: Footpath 181

One thing has changed recently. Footpath 181 would now be a great short cut for everyone around the Claude Rd and Brookburn Rd areas to get to the tram stop at Mauldeth Rd. Has anyone told these residents that their rightful route to the tram is being blocked by a few selfish people on South Drive?

Re: Closing down... opening up

Nice to see someone has finally bought the burnt-out wreck of a building on Beech Rd next to Kulsumah (across the road from Loop). Its been an empty eye-sore for many years. Whatever it becomes must be an improvement on whats there now.

Re: Security light question

A good mate of mine was burgled fairly recently, the skinny little scrote smashed his double glazed patio doors with a hammer, under the full view of the functioning (so called) security light and the CCTV camera, ran in with the alarm screaming and nicked his ipad off the sofa. The moral of that s...

Re: Mauldeth Road / Trams

It has taken years to essentially lay down a few hundred yards of track and cabling. The most time consuming part is to locate every water pipe, gas pipe, sewer, electricity cable, phone cable, Virgin media cable, traffic light cable and anything else that's buried under the roads and pavements, an...

I'd guess that the owner has claimed on his insurance, the insurance company is suing the builders, the builders have claimed on their ...

Re: Streaming of movies question?

We use both Netflix and i-Player on a Samsung Smart TV with a wifi dongle. We have ordinary broadband via TalkTalk and a wireless router and it works fine.
