Re: Closing down... opening up

The TV repair shop next to the Art of Meze has closed down. Surprised it lasted this long to be honest. Was it really repairing TV's all this time? There's a sign outside saying the Istanbul Grill is opening up. If this is by the same team who run the one in Urmston then we're in for a treat. Also I...

Re: Wilbrahim/Corkland row of shops

Can't see a top end grocer opening there. For a start I think it's too small, there's no parking, and it's directly opposite the main competition. The current usage is just fine. This guy's done a great job of getting free advertising for the sale though!

Re: Homeless Chorlton

The 'most of them aren't actually homeless you know' argument seems to me to be a very convenient device to allow you to keep your hands in your pockets, guilt free. I keep my hands in my pockets and I don't feel guilty about it. I do plenty of work for charity, it's my business where I give my tim...

Re: Canal tow paths

I hope they make a good job of this. The Bridgewater towpath has potential to be a cracking cycle route all the way from Altrincham to the city centre.

Re: Canal tow paths

Two weeks ago the Bridgewater path was closed for resurfacing work from around Trafford into Castlefield. Don't know if they're laid the final surface though. It was looking very promising.

Re: Building query...

That one's not been a pub as long as I've been here (early 90's). The only one I can think of for sure is the Feathers/Tesco. I've got one though. About half way down Egerton Road North there's an old white frame that looks like it once held a sign. Was this a pub sign? The houses it's by look new s...

Well good luck to them, but I can't help but think this is destined for failure for the same reasons the council can't make it work.

Re: Selling a house with a tenant question

In my experience it takes at least 2-3 months to buy a property. Could your friend assure the tenant that they'd get say 3 months notice once the sale is agreed? This may get them to stay on. Just a thought.

Chorlton used to be described as an "up and coming" neighbourhood. Now I think it's probably "there".

Re: Chorlton's high street gets stranger by the day

Did it really happen so quickly? I thought it was more of a gradual progression over the last 15 years or so. Starting with the bar places like the Bar and Bluenotes. I'm not really a great shopper... which/where are the boutique shops?
