You're going to have to back that up with something. Otherwise I'm calling rubbish.

Re: Closing down... opening up

I'm hoping one of our Tesco's will be amongst the 43 to close. Nothing against them in principle but there's too many in Chorlton.

Re: Taxi drivers.....

It's not just the private hire drivers who don't know Chorlton. I've used black* cabs from the airport dozens of times over the years and not a single one has ever known the road where I live, I have always had to direct them. It's not Barlow Moor Road admittedly, but there must be at least 40 house...

Re: Woman sexually assaulted by man with knife as she walks

If you are mugged on your way home, as a couple of my friends have been, Is mugging a regular thing in Chorlton now then? I was thinking it's been getting safer. I remember back in the day my friend wouldn't in the flats on Wilbraham Road down near the Stretford end due to feeling unsafe walking in...

Really is a shame. Twitface is fine for flippant chit chat but I used to enjoy the deeper and more meaningful discussions here.

(I'm actually being serious).

Re: Outdoor play area for adults

Well, planning permission for bookmakers/pubs etc doesn't cost the council anything. And some might argue that these are playgrounds for adults anyway. But not outdoors, of course.

What sort of equipment do you envisage in these play areas of yours?

Re: Nice to be back

there's been a brilliantly altruistic campaign to stop the pernicious attempt by morrisons to put the poor co-op on barlowmoor road out of business. yeah so it might protect some already grossly inflated house prices and keep the number of hours of sunshine my hydrandeas currently enjoy but this is...

Re: Redevelopment of Blockbuster video store

[quote="still_ill"]How much of a lazy bastard would you have to be to go to a smaller Morrisons a five minute walk from their big store? How much of a cheapskate would you have to be to go to a larger Morrisons a twenty minute walk (round trip) from their big store to save 10p on a pint of...

Re: Closure of Advice Services in Manchester

I would sign the petition as I have used CAB services in the past and found them fantastic. But I'm having trouble with this - For every £1 the Council spends on advice services, those services save them £8 which in turn puts money into the local economy, if they were to close the advice services do...

Re: Venue room hire

I once went to a do upstairs in the Royal Oak. NIce big room, own bar, and it doesn't get much more central. This was several years ago now though don't know if they're still hiring it out. Don't be put off by its reputation.
