Re: dogs in beech road park

This whole board really. What's happening? It used to be so full of local goings on and a hotbed of irrelevant discussion.

Re: New leisure centre at Hough End: More consultation

I don't think there's any point dreaming of keeping the baths open. The consultation's been and gone and the decision to close and "relocate" has been taken.

I suppose this means then that the service from Chorlton to town will effectively be every 6 minutes? Sounds good.

Re: Loud music in Chorlton til 4am last night (20/9/14)

Monty halls is 1.3 miles from 4banks per t'interwebs so if it was so loud here it must have affected a huge area of south Manchester (I didn't hear it though). And that place isn't just student accomm these days, although many students do live there. It's private flats, mostly owned by foreign inves...

Re: Oswald Road school extension

Perhaps a more important question is whether a worthy desire to preserve architectural heritage should trump teaching children in the best designed buildings we can afford. Another question perhaps is whether it's worth sacrificing functionality to spend a little more on a building that is aestheti...

Re: Closing down... opening up

I hear the Booths deal for the precinct is almost complete with a few minor details to figure out ahead of work starting. Looks like nothing is happening with the precinct until at least 2018 when the lease for Graeme House expires. Will likely continue as a grimey dingy throughfare for some more y...

Re: Closing down... opening up

There is a planning application to turn the empty bookies across the road from there into a pizza place. Just what we need...... Sounds good. When I moved to Chorlton in mid-1990s, most of that row was empty and all of it was really scruffy. Just TV repair, bike shop, launderette, bookies and Charc...

I think I saw that the shop on the corner by the jockey is up for sale too. Is it still an antiques shop? Not sure don't remember noticing it for a while.

And here lies the problem. Until it's every owner and 100% of the time then there are going to be dozens of bags of filth littering the Meadows as there are now.

Re: Dogs in Beech Road Park

What's the reason behind the bags in trees? I once heard an explanation for this on the radio. It's owners who are on an out-and-back walk, so they don't have to carry it with them and can pick it up on the way back. One of the callers said this, but admitted that she sometimes varied her route and...

Look like the place with the white windows on the corner by Everest pharmacy is going to be a cafe. About time too.
