Greater Manchester Youth Network is running a summer programme for 15-17 year olds. The programme is 6 weeks long (although this is flexible) and is focused aroung social action and the young people will get to spend time with European Skateboarding Champion Neil Danns as well as Worldwide inlineskating Champion Jenna Downing.
Summer of a Lifetime - Programme begins 25th July or 1st Aug. Here's a breakdown of the weeks.
Week 1 - The programme starts with a 4 day outdoor activities residential near Clitheroe where the young people will get to know each other and take part in canoeing, mountain biking, climbing and raft building amongst others.
Week 2 - A 4 day urban residential in Manchester City Centre packed with training sessions and taster sessions to equip and skill the young people for their social action project
Week 3 - Social Action time! The young people use their ideas and skills to plan and lead their own projects supported by our staff!
Weeks 4-6 - The young people carry out their social action plan two days a week.
The programme is completely funded and therefore free. We realise young people may have other commitments such as family holidays or work so we are flexible with when they attend. Please contact us to discuss this.
