Cash-free Day on Beech Road, 21st June

the place on the chorlton bulletin board for vegetable-spread related chatter and other matters...it's the first, the best and it's currently hack free.

Cash-free Day on Beech Road, 21st June

I notice we are being encouraged to use our cards today:

Personally I prefer the anonymity of cash for small to medium transactions.

Well the H&J got some publicity and then completely failed:

1 to sell "crisps for 50p" which was a joke throw away line at the end of the Guardian article

2 to do anything different, ie still had £10 minimum for card purchases, which was stated (or I inferred) would be dropped !!

So no point whatsoever except publicity. Admitedly some for "a Chorlton street" (sic) but long-term I imagine for the finance company who started it all.

Commercial promotion by card processing/merchant services leech company, 'handepay'... (ie. takes percentage for processing cards from shops)

It says a great deal about the sad, charmless state of Beech Road that they actually agreed to this shameless shit-headed publicity stunt. Shame on the Guardian too for this blatant churnalism as well... Press releases are not news.

Up yer arse.
One must always be wary of the march of the right-wing. I advocate public flogging/confiscation of assets/rehoming of their young

Even worse than churnalism for On the Corner. The Guardian chose to illustrate the article with a picture of their shop, and yet they were quoted by the Evening News (who presumably actually went and spoke to them) as being "completed opposed to it".
