Recommend a letting agent.. or not

Postby Ruby » Mon Jun 23, 2014 2:21 pm

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a letting agent covering the south Manchester area who won't be awful to work with or completely screw us over for fees please? It's a tall order, I know. What sort of fees can I expect? I've only ever rented privately.

Ideally I'd like to go through a private landlord but I'm struggling to find anything. Thank you.

I don't think you'll find one without the fees, Ruby. Ed Milliband's plan to get them scrapped was overturned by the Lords.

Obviously, private landlords don't charge them but houses round here go very quickly. I let a house in Chorlton but it is never empty as the first person to see it takes it each time. I suspect it is the same with a lot of private landlords so I'm afraid my best advice is to keep refreshing the websites. I use gumtree when it is available.
Keep an open mind...but not so open that your brain falls out.

Thanks Stanley, I've lived round here for a while so I'm well aware of how quickly they go! That was why I was asking about letting agents as I may need a Plan B.

I know that they all charge fees, I was mainly asking for recommendations/indications on how much I can expect to pay, if anyone can help please. :-)

I've always found South Manchester Flat Agency to be decent.
One must always be wary of the march of the right-wing. I advocate public flogging/confiscation of assets/rehoming of their young

Same applies to Trading Places, Directlet, Space4Living and Anglo.

I would give OpenRent a try as it's all private landlords. There are a few properties in Chorlton on there. We're not in Chorlton anymore but we used Sherlock Homes when we were there. They're okayish but can be very slow to get anything sorted, in terms of repairs, once you are in the property.

24 Oswald Road is accountants Fergus and Fergus, who, by the looks of that, and their McGing dealings, aren't too fussy about the kind of scum they let use their address as a 'registered office'.

I found more complete information and relevant data about James Patrick Mcging. Here it is: http://www.checkdirector.co.uk/director/james-mcging/#director_451222.
