Wasting money

Postby annie » Mon Jun 29, 2015 11:33 am

I suppose everyone's seen the hundreds of 20 Mph signs (and poles) popping up all over Chorlton and Whalley Range since Interfering Victor got on his high horse about road safety, with the other paranoids, and pushed through a blanket speed limit for residential roads, in addition to the more sensible one outside schools.

Signs, road painting, you name it... a whole load of money (when the council has the least) which will achieve nothing.

Being on side streets, it's practically unenforceable (because as every fule no, cops don't bother with things off main roads), not to mention meaningless, as the type of people who speed on residential streets won't be stopped by signs and road paint. On most of them, they're speed humped, so reaching 30 would be a feat in itself.

No... Interfering Victor (who also opposed the opening of the Right Of Way on Claude Road (still close BTW thanks to time wasting) ) made his mark, moved on, and failed to get elected as an MP in May.
One must always be wary of the march of the right-wing. I advocate public flogging/confiscation of assets/rehoming of their young

To be fair they've been introduced all over the country not just Chorlton

Portsmouth, Oxford, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Islington, Hackney, Bristol, Bath & NE Somerset, Warrington, Southwark, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Lancashire, Chichester, Glasgow City, York, Liverpool, Manchester, Brighton & Hove, Middlesbrough, Camden, Waltham Forest, City of London, Greenwich, Wigan, Rochdale, Otley, Bury, Bolton, Nottingham, Birmingham, Lewisham, Coventry. with loads to follow.

No doubt be good money spinner for the councils when they start to enforce with the camera's !
