Hello, I'm new to Chorlton and have to register at a doctors :(

Can anyone recommend one which has nice doctors and doesn't smell too funny?!

Blimey Foxy - I've been with that same practice since I moved back to Chorlton in 2001 and I have to say - yeah they're friendly, but as doctors they suck. I wouldn't register with them again if I had a choice. Pill pushers. She's better than him, but that's still not saying much.

Yes they probably are pill pushers but I have to say both times I've been there for emergency appointments that's exactly what I wanted :) Torn muscle in my back.. codiene gimme gimme gimme!

The other time was a acute respiritory viral infection which is the illest I have ever felt and had swollen glands in places I didn't know I had glands and she sent me away with nothing!

You can go down to the health centre and ask around to see whose list is open. There is one practice there who takes on people one day a week and you have to be there at 8.30 to sign on. What you are supposed to do if you work God Knows.

I use The Wibraham Surgery which can be hit and miss.

They are often closed which is frustrating when trying t order a repeat prescription.

I use the Wilbraham Surgery too.
They do an open surgery every morning so if you are ill you turn up and wait.. and wait... and wait...... if you turn up at 8.30 you usually get seen by 9.30.
It smells fine and Dr Cook is excellent** the other doctor seems to change a lot but usually is OK.

(** actually I have no idea how to tell if a doctor is excellent but he's extremely nice and i'm still alive!)

I'm with him - they're my doctors too and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone

I hardly ever post on here but felt I had to say that the Kaya Practice suck big time! The reception staff are rude and can barely grunt at you, the Doctors don't seem to care as long as they can get you out quickly and it does smell funny. I tried to register at the Oswald Road Practice as it seems much better but was told that they are only accepting patients who aren't already registered with a Chorlton Doctor. This is probably beacuse if they did everyone would leave Kaya and go to them. :)

I'm very happy with the Ashville Surgery at 171 Upper Chorlton Road. They have some experienced docs and now open late some evenings and I think sat mornings. Dr Fyans is a star although he's semi retired and now only works 2 days. Unlike so many GPs he knows there's much more to know than he knows and will check all the angles or refer you to a specialist when its called for. I've suffered at the hands of GPs who claim to know when really they're guessing.

Agree with this. Usually about a week waiting for an appointment but the nurse is very friendly. Ive seen two doctors there, Dr Radcliffe is very down to earth and friendly too. Have to say, I wasnt impressed with the other one.

Isn't there catchment areas for doctors surgeries? I know of ppl who wanted to register with a certain doctor that wasn't their closest and couldn't??
Two roads diverged in a wood and I ... took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference
