What's Registration?
Registration is the process whereby you tell us who you are - we need a user name (your choice, but it's got to be unique on this board) and a valid email address.
The email address has got to be valid because after you register we send you an email which contains:
    • your chosen username
    • your chosen password
    • a link that you must follow before your registration becomes active!

At registration, you will be required to copy the contents of a graphic image that will appear; these contents consist of letters and/or numbers. This requirement has been caused by the number of automatic 'spam' registrations.
If you have difficulty seeing the graphic, please email to discuss your registration. Sorry!
Also Important...
You will also be asked to supply the answer to a very very simple question (for example, what is 2+2); although this seems stupid, it is enough to prevent automatic 'spam' registration!! If this is all Greek - or similar - to you, don't worry: just supply the correct answer!
Change: when you register, the board's administrator gets an email asking him/her (him in this case) to approve the new registration. You'll get your 'welcome' email after approval. Why? To stop fake spam registrations. Sorry.
Why should I register?
You need to register if you want to be able to post (upload/publish/write) entries to any of the Discussions on the chorlton.web community board. I'm afraid that includes the Guestbook! By the way, you don't have to register to read anything (sort of) on the board.

Is Registration safe? What about Cookies?
This is the small print you agree to when you register with the chorlton.web community board (and, in a similar form, any other online community bulletin board):

While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered above; they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one).

I know it sounds scary but believe me - it's OK! Trust me, I live in chorlton!
