"Reasonable local advertising only" ?

Postby MaryRPerkins » Tue Oct 11, 2011 1:09 am

Hi moderators (and other forum users),

Your FAQ says we are allowed reasonable local advertising....

I am still quite new to the forum so I am not sure of the etiquette here - I work from home in Chorlton and would like to advertise myself on here as a private tutor, and also as a coach. Obviously I don't want to do anything that would offend, or be considered spam, but it would be good to be able to make 2 posts (one for each business) telling other forum users a bit about the services I offer.

And it would be nice to see the same from other business-owners on here too, so that I can try out local small businesses for things I need in preference to non-local companies.

I presume a couple of posts would count as 'reasonable' but I can't tell which section of the forum posts like this should go in, or if there are any big 'no-no's in what I can say in such a post.

Should we perhaps have a "Skill Sell" section in addition to the "Skill Swap" section?

Or have I missed somewhere obvious where small local businesses should put their "reasonable advertising"?

Thanks for your help,

Mary.

I'm sure the occasional post about your services would be fine.

I'm afraid I can't add sections - but I think the suggestion is a valid one. Perhaps you could pm admin?

Happy to add a section called 'local businesses' or similar where 'direct' advertising not as controlled as elsewhere.
Any objections?

Hi Mark,

in that there have been no objections since your post of some time ago, how about adding that 'Local Businesses' section to the forum for us?

Thanks,

Mary.

You could sort the smileys out while you were at it. We've only been waiting since 2009.
