Beer festival?

Postby jemimapuddleduck » Thu Jun 12, 2008 7:18 pm

Does anyone know if the beer festival at St Clements is on this weekend? I've just noticed a little bit in the reporter but haven't seen anything else about it....

Its in a couple of weeks, the chap who runs the Chorlton facebook group emailed this around recently:

"The 4th Chorlton Beer Festival:
A celebration of local and international real ales and cider
St Clement's Church is building on the last three year's phenomenal success of hosting a Beer Festival in Chorlton. Over 20 real ales will be available to sample along with a collection of traditional ciders. Red and white wine will also be on offer if needed for the partners of real ale connoisseurs. Last year proved to be a fantastic community event, with everyone enjoying the beer, cider, food.
Beer Festival Opening Times:
Friday 11th July: 4.30pm to 11pm
Saturday 12th July: 1pm to 11pm
On Saturday morning and afternoon (until 7.00pm) children are welcome and receive free entry."

How helpful am I?!

You are very helpful - thank you very much!

Thought it was weird I hadn't seen anything else - looks like I was right not to trust the reporter's reporting.

I think it's worth giving that facebook group a bit of plug - it seems to always be the first place I hear about things. The chap who runs it seems to have his finger on the pulse and he sends out a newsletter once a month which is very informative.

If you're a fan of the festival, especially if, like me, you like the ciders, you need to get there early... by Saturday evening, it's all gone, and you're stuck with the so-so bitters.

We went on the Sunday last year and they ran out of beer and there was only cider left.

It probably explains the absence of beer.

I distinctly remember that. I guess a church wouldnt run a beer festival on a Sunday. It must have been on the Saturday. There was definitely no beer to be had after a certain time.

Really enjoyed it again this year
As the night goes on the people serving always get more and more merry, and their faces ruddier :)

HAd a top night but all that real ale and stupidly stong cider gave me an evil hangover.
